Community Informatics: The Action, Reaction, Integration (ARI) Model

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the emergingrnliterature on community informatics with a view torndeveloping a strategic framework, described as thernAction, Reaction, Integration (ARI) model. We start byrnpresenting the major themes in the research onrncommunity informatics. The review is intended tornhighlight issues that have attracted most research effortsrnon Community Informatics. We conclude by assertingrnthat issues related to the strategy of communityrninformatics have not received enough attention. Hence,rnthe need for a theoretical models that focus on this area.rnWe proceed to present the ARI model, with examplesrnfrom a real life case study that took place inrnRockhampton, Australia. We conclude with an outline ofrnthe major directions for future research emanating fromrnthe ARI model.
