The first part of this study focuses on the microstructural characterisation of cement paste/epoxy interfaces, using micro-thermal analysis, arecent technique based on scanning probe technology. Experiments revealed the existence of a polymer mesophase with a gradient of property (i.e. , glass transition temperature) , resulting from molecular interactions between the mineral and organic phases. An emphasis was made on the effect of hydrothermal ageing on this specific microstructure.rnIn a second part, the mechanical properties of adhesively bonded assemblies (cement paste prisms bonded together with an adhesive) were assessed using a wedge splitting test. Effects of hydrothermal aging on the mechanical strength are investigated.
