Polymorphism Involving a Racemic Conglomerate and a Racemic Compound

Chiral drugs are becoming increasingly common. Preformulation studies oftenrnrequire a fairly detailed understanding of the physical properties of each chiral drug, bothrnalone and when mixed with its opposite enantiomer,. This presentation will examine andrncompare the various solid phases, in which chiral drugs may exist. Most of the talk willrndescribe a special variant of polymorphism between a racemic conglomerate and twornracemic compounds, taking sodium ibuprofen as an example. Finally, the physicochemicalrnimplications of chiral purity will be discussed.
