This paper concerns the software design of Advanced Control & Real-time OptimizationrnArchitecture (ACROSA) with its application on large-scale manufacturing processes. Particularrncharacteristics of ACROSA are discussed and a multi-process networking based ACROSA isrndeveloped as an application case. Data exchange and synchronization are achieved via Real-TimernDatabase (RTDB) and TCP/IP Server/Client based network communication. RTDB, together withrnprocess management and scheduling, provides a slot-like mechanism of the architecture, whichrnmakes the system very open and scalable. The architecture also has highly secure and robustrnproperty. Its feasibility has been proven by applications of advanced control, real-time optimizationrnand simulation on several petrochemical processes.
