HEATING/DRYING OF PAPER SHEET WITH GAS-FIRED INFRARED EMITTERS-PILOT MACHINE TRIALS

On-line heating/drying of paper sheet with gas-fired infrared emitters is investigatedrnthrough pilot machine trials and theoretical analysis. The results indicate thatrnsignificant enhancements in drying of uncoated paper can be achieved with thernapplication of gas-fired IR emitters. The theoretical model predicts the pilot machinerndata closely. Thus, the theoretical model developed can be used as a valuable tool tornpredict the increase in machine speed or drying rate with the incorporation of gas-firedrnIR emitters in the drying section.
