Internal lining of the Bolivia-brazil gas pipeline: a PETROBRAS experience

For the first time in Brasil a large gas pipeline, compared to the largest one existing in other ocntients, was designed and built. Reaching for gas transportation high efficiency, an internal coating was applied to obtain a smooth an uniform surface and to reduce the flow friction. The pipe roughness values, with nad without coating, considered on technical and economical studies, which dtermined the application of 5,400,000 m sup 2 of a 60 mivm thick epoxy film inside the pipes must be confimed. By the time that the original speciication had to be modified during application, special cares needed to be taken during the gas line construction in order to preserve coating quality until operation starts.
