In applications where a high power density needs to be achieved, as for example in hybrid electric vehicles,rnthermal management and packaging are important design issues. Indeed, thermal environmentalrnconditions are harsh and power electronics systems are stressed, for instance, by a coolantrntemperature level as high as 105 ℃. It is therefore a real challenge to design power electronic systemsrnwhich propose a high performance, low volume and low cost. A 25 kW inverter was built in accordancernwith a previously presented thermal design approach, and integrated into an automaticrntransmission. In this paper, we report on the thermal characteristics of the integrated inverter underrnworking conditions.
