Typically, offset flowlines (both ends located subsea without arnsurface piercing riser) are installed and tested with thernmainline back to the host facility. However, expansion ofrnexisting infrastructure in deepwater has created a need for thernability to test flowlines without a surface piercing element.rnTo accommodate subsea expansions of brownfieldrndevelopments, there exists a need for definition of criteria andrndesign of hardware to provide for the flowline precommissioningrnfunction.rnThis paper describes the processes implemented forrngarnering industry consensus and regulatory approval, as wellrnas the criteria applied to system selection and design.
