A series of acoustic sensitivity studies investigating noise from aircraft taxi operations werernperformed, utilizing a holistic approach and applying an understanding of taxiing operations,rndetailed aircraft motions and acoustic sources. The study is based upon decoupling the modelingrnof taxi noise into the following three areas and exercising each element independently: 1. Enginernsource noise (level, spectra, directivity), 2. Aircraft movements and operating states (location,rnduration, power setting) and 3. Environment and acoustic propagation (lateral attenuation,rnterrain, shielding, and ground impedance). Aircraft taxi noise sensitivity studies exercised eachrnelement independently. Limited opportunistic commercial aircraft taxi operation acousticrnmeasurements were conducted. Independent taxi flight data recorder (FDR) information wasrnqueried to determine statistical engine and aircraft operational parameters. The paper discussesrnthe sensitivity study findings and presents an approach for development of a nominal taxi staternnoise Noise-Power-Distance, spectral class and directivity database for the AviationrnEnvironmental Design Tool (AEDT).
