Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is caused by the malfunction of the otolith that is responsible for spatial disorientation and motion sickness. BPPV is a very common vestibular peripheral vertigo. Nowadays the prevailing maneuver of curing BPPV is manipulative reduction. An automatic rotatory chair is designed for clinical diagnosis and remedy in otorhinolaryngology (OQL) according to the manipulative reduction. This paper focuses on mechanical design and torque analysis. The mathematic model is built based on mechanical structure, and after optimization the torques applying on the motors can be reduced dramatically, which is useful in practical implementation.
