GHS: OSHA's Final Deadline: Last Call for Employer Compliance

June 1, 2016 is the date OSHA expects the millions of employers across the country covered by the HazCom Standard to be in full compliance with the changes arising from its decision to align with the United Nations' model HazCom system called the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Hazardous Chemicals (GHS) back in 2012. This means employers need to have an updated, compliant HazCom Program in place, and use GHS-aligned workplace labels and safety data sheets. In addition, employees need to have been trained on all newly identified physical and health hazards in the workplace.
