This paper presents the power quality analysis and the impact of power solar rooftop on distribution system of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) in Thailand. The case study used in this paper is a 996 kWpeak solar photovoltaic (PV) distributed generator (DG) system which is connected to 22 kV at Pluak Daeng 3 substation, Pluak Daeng District, Rayong, Thailand. Experimental and simulation results are used in power quality analysis. The DIgSILENT PowerFactory is used to simulate the behavior of the DG system connected to PEA power distribution network. Experimental results show that all power qualities are in standard criteria. Simulation results show that the PEA distribution system would be affected on voltage variation during cloudy periods when the power generation is more than 4 MW. However, the distribution system would be benefit when the PV system produces 2-3 MW.
