摘要

The high thermal stability as well as their tunable viscosity, tunable corrosiveness and material compatibility, negligible vapor pressure, non-flammability and tribological performance make some ionic liquids to interesting additives for high performance lubricants, in particular for high temperature or high vacuum applications. Furthermore, the dispersion of nanomaterials by using ionic liquid additives leads to very stable, easy, and safe-to-handle media. This procedure is not limited to CNTs or water, but also applicable to other particles or solvents. The combination of ionic liquids with nanomaterials allows tailoring their combined tribological and tribochemical behavior, and the creation of novel materials with enhanced properties.
