300 Mvar synchronous condensers have played an important role in restraining commutation failure and maintaining voltage stability for the UHV converter station. The reliability of the distributed control system of synchronous condensers is analyzed. From the aspects of I/O signal configuration, grounding, power supply, emergency shutdown button setting and network configuration, the difference between distributed control system of synchronous condenser and conventional thermal power unit is compared. The logical configuration of the important auxiliary system of the synchronous condenser is optimized, which improves the operational stability of the synchronous condensers.
