Integration, complexity, performance, operability, maintainability, safety and cost of gas turbine engine for NATO member countries. Higher demand for efficiency, and escalation of costs to certify/re-certify engine hardware requires extensive test is required in the test cell. Fine tuning the engine, as well as any modification, and certification, poses safety risk. comprehensive and easy to modify instrumentation are necessary. New approaches may lead to lower cost and higher system reliability, and better engine performance. From software perspective, new tools, hierarchical control systems software can minimize the software cost and reliability.
