Bioadhesion of Microspheres Correlates with In Vivo Intestinal Uptake

Bioadhesive measurements for microsphere formulations comprised of different materials were performed on the bulk polymeric material and on the microsphere formulation itself and compared to the in vivo intestinal uptake of the microspheres. Bioadhesion was found to increase microsphere uptake. The study also indicates the importance of evaluating bioadhesion of the microsphere formulation in contrast to bulk material measurements.
