The aim of this study was to determine granisetron (GST) pharmacokinetics following iontophoretic delivery using a system designed to spare GST consumption at the anode. The average iontophoretic input rate (k01) was 0.827 ± 0.265 μg.min-1 and the maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) was 0.092 ± 0.004 μg.ml-1. The results demonstrated that transdermal iontophoresis of GST at 0.3 mA.cm-2 could deliver therapeutic amounts of GST from a reasonably sized 4-6 cm2 patch.
