Design of a Computer-Based Triangle Chess Machine

Computer-based chess machines have been built based on tree searches and parallel computing. Several papers have discussed the computer implementations of different types of chess games such as chess (western), Chinese chess (Xiangqi), Japanese chess (Shogi), and Hex. This paper focuses on the implementation of a triangle chess machine. We first make a brief explanation on the popular chess games and their related studies. We then describe the rules for playing a triangle chess. Basically, the triangle chess machine proposed in this paper considers all possible configurations of chess patterns and then makes moves based on these patterns. We present the software modules of the machine and discuss the computation issues related to this study. Conclusions and the directions for future studies are also given at the end of this paper.
