Geo electrophoresis is commonly used in life science research to separate macromolecules with different molecular weights. Reading and interpreting the electrophoresis gel can be performed either with the naked eyes or with the assistance of an analysis system. However, since the system is composed of expensive optical devices, personal computer, and software, it has not been broadly used in China. The purpose of this research was to develop a low cost system for gel electrophoresis image analysis with most features like commercial products.
