A Re-evaluation Of Our Profession: Customised Role Specific Training Programs Client Specific VE Workshops

In keeping with the conference theme “Engineering Change to Elevate Value” this paper discusses theuse of Customised and Role Specific Training Programs (RSTP) as a structured approach for enhancingour professional development. It also, looks at the melding of these training programs with theincreasing use of Continuing Education Units (CEU) for certification and re-certification withinprofessional institutions world-wide. The paper addresses some of the types of RSTP developed by theauthor, all of which were designed as a result of surveys conducted on various clients long termtraining and staff development requirements. In this paper I shall also address my approach to thedevelopment of Value Engineering (VE) workshop types that one needs to deliver in order to meet theever changing needs of clients. Particular attention will be given to the client based challenge to the VEprofessional to meet his/her desire for a continual shortening of the VE Study and VE TrainingWorkshop. This paper also addresses and identifies a number of outcomes a client can expect fromthese client specific VE training programs.
