A sub-ppm precision monolithic force sensor based on articulated structures with flexible bearings

Almost 30 years ago, at the 1973 ACHEMA exhibition held in Frankfurt, Germany, METTLER Instrumente AG presented the first fully electronic precision commercial balance operating according to the magnetic force restoration principle as a replacement for the traditional substitution balance. Since then, the magnetic force restoration technique has been further developed and refined to attain higher resolution, lower profile, faster response time and increased robustness.
