Sol-gel nano-coating method was applied to prepare MgSrAl10O17: Eu 2+ (SAM) blue phosphor parti-cles with quasi-spherical shape. The phosphor was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). SEM image of the phosphor discloses quasi-spherical morphology. X-ray diffraction (XRD) f the SAM powder displays a pure MgSrAl10O17 pattern after annealed at 1270 ?? for 3 h. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra of SAM show a strong blue emission corresponding to 4f 6 5d 1 →8 S7/2 transition (468 nm) of Eu 2+ under ultravio-let excitation (337 nm).
