We studied the bulk free radical copolymerization of styrene(St) and maleic anhydride (Manh) at the range of 70 ~ 160°C The experimental results indicated that the products of polymerization at 70'C contained poly (St) and random copolymer. And the homopolymerization took place when the copolymerization stopped at lower conversions. However, if temperature was over 120°C, the two sort of polymerization simultaneously existed. The conversion of copolymerization had less dependence on the temperature and were less than 50%. The conversion of poly(St) might arrive higher. At the same time, the composition of copolymers tended to 1:1 alternation as the temperature approached 140°C. The random copolymers of St and Mann were yielded above 140°C (figure 1, table 1).
