Rotary vane vacuum pumps, which are usually driven by a three-phase electric motor, are widely used in various types of industries. Eccentric placed rotor in the cylinder, combine with centrifugal force, forces the vanes to move out and into the slots milled in the rotor, resulting in increase and decrease of the inter-vane volume, causing the air to be sucked into the pump. During the exploitation, there is a possibility of a mechanical damage to the vane, blocking it in its slot, and in some cases the vane can fall out of its groove, what leads to catastrophic failure. The article presents a new method for diagnostics of vanes, based on the observation and analysis of a pressure signal, validated by the clustering process of the recorded signals, showing the way to assess the state of the device without taking it out if the operation.
