In the proposed work biospeckle activity (BA) of roots grown in hydroponic medium has been analyzed for the first time. Laser illumination has been used to obtain the biospeckle images without unwanted specular reflections from the glass tube. Data were collected on two different plant roots and three algorithms namely generalized difference (GD), parameterized GD (PGD) and parameterized global average fujii (PGAF) have been used for the activity analysis of root tissues. It is concluded that all three algorithms were found to be well suited for BA analysis of the roots. In addition, it is also concluded that PGD and PGAF gives better result than GD.
