The article considers air filters with a short diffuser for air purification from mechanical impurities. A review of the current level of development in the field of numerical modeling and FEM analysis of filters of various types is performed. Directions are proposed for improving the previously developed methodology for the numerical calculation of the flowing part of air filters with a short diffuser in terms of improving the quality of the mesh and choosing a turbulence model, as well as modeling a filter element. Comparative numerical and experimental researches of air filters with a short diffuser were carried out, based on the results of which the efficiency and working capacity of the proposed improvements were proved. Based on the results of the work performed, the following solutions were introduced into the method of calculation: partitioning the calculation model into a finite element mesh using the y+ function, replacing the k-ω turbulence model with SST, simulating a filter element using the Porous Zone function instead of a perforated grid.
