Bacterial lypopolysaccharide(LPS)is an endotoxin described as the major responsible of the development,of the septic shock,a leading cause of mortality in septic patients, and no specific drugs are as yet available for its treatment. There is a need to identify new leads in order to increase the number of active molecules at the pre-clinical stages. We have developed a dual strategy to identify such LPS-neutralising molecules. The first one,is based on the synthesis of peptides derived from a LPS-binding protein. We have also performed screen of diversity oriented combinatorial libraries and identified N-alkylglycines trimers that inhibit LPS.
