Triazine based coupling reagents were found useful in the syntheses in solution of amides,esters,peptides,carboxylic acid anhydrides,beta-lactames,antifolates,carotenoids,fullerenes,and pharmaceuticals,affording high yield of products even in the case of less reactive,sterically hindered substrates.However,in some synthetic applications,triazine reagents failed because a degradation of intermediate chlorides 3a-d to unreactive side-products.In order to take full advantages of triazine"superactive esters"participating in above mentioned condensations as exceedingly efficient acylating intermediates we attempted to improve the properties of classic triazine coupling reagent 1 and 3a-d by modification of their structure.
