摘要

This paper describes the use of a partially penetrating Dynamic Replacement (DR) ground improvement solution at a site in Egypt. It presents conventional and numerical analyses used in the design. Field monitoring results are compared to the analysis results, and material parameters back analysed for calibration of the design model for later stages of the project. An interesting finding on the ground improvement at this site was that significantly higher than predicted strength gain was achieved on the soft soils. This beneficial effect is postulated to be caused by the high lateral stresses produced by the DR installation process.
