Here we present the first validation test of helioseis-mic time-distance inversion which includes a stochastic waveform computation in a 3-D solar model. For a given velocity structure a stochastic shallow source is propagate by finite-difference acoustic computation to generate random 3-D acoustic vibrations for which synthetic Dopplergrams are computed. The preliminary results indicate that state-of-the-art processing and inversion may recover only a noisy picture of interior sound-speed perturbations even for essentially noise-free data.
