Competencies-based Knowledge Network (CKN) — a systematic design method for education website

Education is one of the most important things in our life. Along with developments and applications of high technology, computers and the Internet have changed our study styles and processes greatly. Internet-based education and study is becoming one of the most promising educational development directions. Focused on education website design and planning, we propose a systematical method called the Competencies-based Knowledge Network (CKN). Based on this design method, we have developed a math website on which a large quantity of math materials can be organized and integrated efficiently. Using this website, the student can learn arithmetic systematically from the standpoint of competencies or from the standpoint of grades. What is most important is that this system is an open system that can easily increase the amount of new materials and modify the relationships between these materials to fit knowledge development trends. The systematic design method and implementation approaches proposed in this paper can provide references for all the math related websites' design and development. Moreover, this method can be applied in the design and planning processes of any education websites with logical contents.
