Recently a new machine topology called Brushless Doubly-Fed Induction Machine BDFIM has been proposed to compete with Doubly-fed induction machine DFIM in the field of the production of variable speed electrical energy. The models developed for the BDFIM to highlight certain phenomena involved in its operation are generally based on the theory of coupled circuits, where the two stator windings are considered independent. In this paper, we present an electromagnetic model based on the finite element method which makes it possible to consider, in addition to the simultaneous resolution of the magnetic problems, electrical circuits and mechanical movement, the direct coupling of the two stator windings. The finite element model developed is used on Flux2d to study the functioning of a 2.2KW and 1/3 pairs of poles BDFIM, analyzing its behavior.
