Modelling of Biological Kinetics Using a New Structural Criterion

In the model building problem for bioprocess, the most difficult task is the structural mdoelling of the reaction rates. A new methodology is proposed to address this problem, namely the problem offinding an appropriate analytical expression the reaction rates as functions of the species concentrations. A structural criterion is proposed to test structural assumptions against experimental data. The kinetic structures that can be testsed with this criterion cover most of the classical kinetic models. The methodology is illustrated with a simulation example.
