The Lidar In-space Technology Experiment (LITE) data shows enhanced aerosol layers associated with the transport of wind blown desert dust from the interior region of the Saharan Desert, across the Atlantic Ocean, and to the Caribbean. Intensity plots of LITE observations depict the longitudinal extent and vertical structure of the dust plume. Isentropic back-trajectory calculations indicate the transport of Sahram air masses across the Atlantic Ocean which are consistent with the LITE observations.
