Results of a comparative test between two types of diode laser-based total backscatter lidars - muJ-pulsed and PRN-cw lidars - are reported. Simultaneous measurements of the backscatter signals from hard targets and the atmosphere were performed. The SNR and lidar signal variations are compared.
