摘要

Our aim is to develop and test a vertical, one-dimensional mathematical model for the transport of an organomercurial micropollutant (phenyl mercuric acetate or PMA) through a saturated homogeneous porous media, taking into account the potential for a biological decontamination of contaminated aquifers. The presence of heavy metals in the environment has already received a great deal of attention due to their highly toxic nature and translocation through the food chain. The roles of a number of different bacteria in the transformation of mercuric compounds have already been documented (Summers).
