Marine Endangered Species: Should Fisheries Scientists be Concerned?

At the extreme and of biodiversity loss is the extin cetion of species or other evolutionary significant units. This paper addresses the question of how fisheries scientists could play a role in policy and conservation management for species thought to be in danger of extinction. It first examines the question of why so few marine species are officially listed as endangered, whether this situation is likely to change much in the future, and how fisheries scientists could contribute to conservation policies and plans.
