The design and fabrication of an automatic transfer machine for manufacturing solid brass hinges is described. This machine is intended to replace a conventional production line increasing the productivity at least threefold. In addition product quality is substantially improved. The machine sequencing is done by a PLC. Speed Control at the critical stations is achieved by incorporating damping systems. Machining tolerance, cutting parameters and speed control showed to be the critical issues.
