It is getting more important to save agricultural water and to develop more effective irrigation scheme under the threat of population growth and climate change[1].To effectively maintains soil moisture by suppressing evaporation,plastic film mulch,has been widely used.However,plastic mulch affects surface albedo and blocks water vapor exchange(soilatmosphere),and will have impacts on"local"climate by modifying the surface-atmosphere partitioning of vapor and energy.The goal of the present study is to propose a method for suppressing water evaporation from soil,without using plastic-film mulch system.
