In the pharmaceutical industry, continuous manufacturing is being developed as an alternative to conventional batch manufacturing.Toward the further implementation of continuous manufacturing,an economic assessment is crucial because the benefit depends on product types and process conditions.Matsunami et al.1)developed an economic assessment model, which revealed high sensitive parameters on economic performance. One of the critical parameters is start-up operation time because materials processed during start-up operation become disposals. While some papers report experimental results of start-up operation under fixed process conditions2-3),the phenomena of start-up operation needs to be understood. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effects of process parameters on start-up operation in continuous wet granulation, which is a key unit operation.
