Research on Damage Imaging Accuracy of the Guided Wave

Ultrasonic guided wave has attracted considerable attention for structural health monitoring (SHM) due to slight propagation loss and sensitivity to damage. However, the location imaging accuracy reduces hugely as the guided wave is often affected by the reflection of the structure boundary and system noise. In this paper, an improving method was established, in which the distance coefficient and the time coefficient were proposed to select and intercept high signal noise ratio data from all experimental data. The effectiveness of the proposed method was evaluated experimentally with sensors array of different square areas. The experiment result revealed that the location imaging accuracy and efficiency were improved more than 50% and 30% respectively by using the improving method, which shown to offer significant performance advantages for SHM.
