An active form of vitamin B6,pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP,Figure1),is an importantcofactor for numerous enzymes and is involved in the synthesis and metabolism of amino acids(transamination,decarboxylation,and racemization).PLP is an endogenous singlet oxygenphotosensitizers.Singlet oxygen is generated by energy transfer from the excited triplet stateof PLP to ground-state oxygen (Figure 2).Singlet oxygen has a relatively long lifetime and hasthe various effects on biological components.
