Microtubules are tubular cytoskeletons formed by the polymerization of tubulin dimers.Although microtubule-based nanomaterials have been developed by functionalization oftheir outer surface,the inside of microtubules has not been used because of no methodology.Encapsulation of nanostructures inside microtubules will be a new concept to functionalizemicrotubules.We have succeeded to develop a Tau-derived peptide,TP (CGGGKKHVPGGGSVQIVYKPVDL) which binds to the inside of microtubules [1].Recently,encapsulationof GFP inside microtubules has been achieved by conjugation of TP to GFP [2].
