Observation of neutrinoless double beta decay would be a clear evidence of lepton number non-conservation and as such it would imply the existence of Majorana neutrino masses. In this text we focus on microscopic description of the effective short-range contributions to this rare (and so far hypothetical) nuclear process. In particular, we estimate the limits on corresponding effective couplings given the current experimental sensitivity and we calculate the angular correlation of the outgoing electrons.
