2,2’:6’,2’’-Terpyridine is widely used as a tridentate ligand of metal complexes and efficient methods for synthesizing its various derivatives are highly demanded. Although 4′- (pinacolboryl)terpyridine must be a useful intermediate of terpyridine derivatives, synthesis of that compound has been reported only by the reaction of 4’-bromoterpyridine with bis(pinacolato)diboron thus far.
