Synthesis of Expanded Porphyrins with Pyridine Subunits University

Pyriporphyrin, which is a homologue of porphyrin with a pyridine subunit, exhibits unique characteristics derived from the balance between its macrocyclic aromaticity and the local aromaticity of its pyridine ring. However, expanded porphyrins with pyridine subunits are quite limited because of the synthetic difficulty. In this presentation, we demonstrate the synthesis and properties of two types of novel expanded pyriporphyrins.
