Stereospecific synthesis of poly-condensed oxygen-containing heterocyclic compounds using optically pure 2,2’-diphenoquinone derivatives

Enantiomerically pure 2,2'-diphenoquinone derivatives (1)1-3 were rearranged to two different types of oxygen-containing poly condensed heterocyclic compounds while heating in acetic acid. The spiro compounds (2) bearing cyclopentadiene and γ-butyrolactone ring and the pyranone compounds (3) which are condensed cyclopentadiene and pyranone ring were obtained.
