Early detection of primary aldosteronism is critical since it has a higher risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality compared to other forms of hypertension. In situ quantification of active renin in blood at clinics is desired. We have developed an analytical device which can be easily used on clinical site for primary aldosteronism screening. In this study, we investigated the sandwich immunoassay of active renin using Janus particles which have multiple properties as a label. The hemisphere of Janus particle used in this study is modified with pyrene for fluorescence detection and the other hemisphere is modified with amino group for antigen modification.
