A new way to design coding phase gradient metasurface (CPGM) is proposed in this work. Different from the previous CPGM, the modulation of coding elements and coding sequences can be achieved simultaneously. Thus, the manipulations of electromagnetic (EM) wave will be more flexible for CPGMs. As an example, CPGMs with and without modulation of coding elements are achieved. The co-polarization reflection unit cells under circularly polarized (CP) wave incidence are considered to constitute the coding elements based on Pancharatnam-Berry (PB) phase. The simulated scattering patterns of the designed CPGMs demonstrate the expected manipulations.
