The current project is a preliminary attempt to compare an avatar administered virtual reality Stroop task (VRST) to standard (human) administration of the Stroop task. The avatar administered Stroop is part of a larger battery of tests aimed at proffering a cognitive screening battery that can be used in teleneuropsy-chology. The three versions of the Stroop task were administered to a sample of 66 healthy university stu-dents (64% female), between the ages of 19 and 27 years, which included equivalent distributions of men and women from ethnically-diverse populations. No significant differences were found for age, gender, or education. Results indicated that the typical Stroop effect pattern found in the human administered Delis–Kaplan Executive Function System and Automated Neuropsychological Assessment Metrics occurs in the avatar administered Stroop. We conclude that while the avatar administered Stroop has the potential to of-fer a novel approach to assessment of supervisory attentional processing, there are human factors issues that need to be addressed.
